Draffenville Wastewater Treatment Plant

The wastewater plant serving Marshall County Sanitation District No. 2 was undersized and suffered from reliability problems.
Florence & Hutcheson was selected to assist the District with the planning through construction administration for a new wastewater treatment plant.
The treatment alternative analysis included an update to the District’s discharge permit leading to a much higher standard for phosphorous and other nutrient removal.
To accommodate the increased treatment requirements and the minimal size of the available plant site, a sequenced batch reactor (SBR) design was selected for the project. In addition to the SBR, the project included a new influent lift station and UV disinfection.
