Multi-Use Trail - Noonday Creek

The project begins near the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitor’s Center at the north end of the Mountain to the river. F&H, as prime consultant, was in charge of all design services, which included surveys, trail and drainage designs and environmental services. This Multi-Use Trail continues through the National Park, along existing roadways and Noonday Creek to a terminus at Bells Ferry Road. The total length of the trail is 6 miles. The trail varies in width from 10 feet to 12 feet and is either concrete or asphalt. Prefabricated bridges cross Noonday Creek at 5 locations. The trail also goes through a regional stream detention facility which is the first in-stream detention facility in Georgia. Phase I, which is the portion of the project located within the National Park, will have National Park Service (NPS) and TE funding. Phase II has LCI and TE funding. The project requires coordination with the Georgia Department of Transportation, CSX Railroad, National Park Service, EPD, FEMA, USCOE, and Cobb County.
