Sidewalk and Pedestrian Bridge Over Sweat Mountain Creek at Mabry Road

Cobb County, GA

Florence & Hutcheson was contracted to provide engineering services for this residential area of the county. Overall F&H services, as prime consultant, included all survey, roadway design and environmental services. The project was in two phases, with Phase I constructing a sidewalk and a pedestrian bridge on the west side of Mabry Road from Loch Highland Parkway to Loch Highland Pass using county funds. Phase II included sidewalk from Shallowford Road to north of Sweat Mountain Creek and a second pedestrian bridge over the creek. Phase II was funded with Federal Transportation Enhancement and local funds. Both phases of the project included coordination with the Georgia Safe Dams program to ensure the abutments for the pedestrian bridge would not add any unnecessary stresses to the current Category I dam and spillway at Sweat Mountain Creek.
