This project involved a 5-mile section of US 23 (APD Project) on new location in the Appalachian mountains near the North Carolina State Line. The design included:

  • 4-lane facility with a 14’ median in rugged terrain
  • 1 interchange
  • 1 truck inspection area at the top of the mountain
  • 2 scenic overlooks

F&H engineering services included:

  • Survey
  • Roadway Design
  • Geotechnical Investigation for roadway and structures (drilling, testing and analysis)
  • Right of Way Plans
  • Construction Plans
  • Paving Plans
