Florence & Hutcheson was a member of the three-firm organization building the first privately financed highway in South Carolina. This toll facility is 16.5 miles in length with six interchanges, 44 bridges and seven million cubic yards of excavation. Construction cost was $130 million and total project cost was $200 million. As prime consultant, F&H was responsible for all environmental documentation including the EIS, surveys and geotechnical work, construction engineering and inspection services for this project. The project was completed nearly a year ahead of schedule and $3 million under budget.
