Berkeley County, SC

SC-45 in Berkeley County, South Carolina is a 2-lane highway that crosses the Diversion Canal between Lake Marion and Lake Moultrie. The project involved replacing the 710-foot long bridge over the Diversion Canal. The new structure maintains the channel width and the 50-foot vertical clearance provided by the existing truss bridge. This project involved surveys, alternate studies, geotechnical investigation, environmental impact studies, along with final bridge and roadway design. Florence & Hutcheson performed seismic analysis and design in accordance with applicable SCDOT’s Seismic Design Specifications for Highway Bridges.
