Project Watch: Ben Sawyer Bridge Replacement Complete

The New Ben Sawyer Bridge opened at 2:00 am on Friday, February 19, 2010 to vehicular traffic. The new span was designed in the same architectural style as the original bridge built in 1945. The new bridge traffic lanes are 14 feet wide, two feet wider than the old bridge lanes. The bike and pedestrian path on the harbor side is 5 feet wide, twice the width of the path on the old bridge. Florence & Hutcheson provided numerous services on this project as a subconsultant to Hardesty & Hanover, LLP.
