Association of State Dam Safety Officials Appoint Jeff Powers to Advisory Committee

The Board of Directors of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) has appointed Jeff Powers, PE to the Affiliate Member Advisory Committee (AMAC).

Powers, Senior Consultant, Florence & Hutcheson Dams and Levees Group, has over 25 years of experience in the field of water resource related engineering and surveying. Powers scope of projects includes high hazard dam design and renovation; levee rehabilitation; river and flood plain modeling; storm drainage system design; and culvert and bridge analysis.

The wide scope of dam projects in which Powers has participated has given him experience in many different types of hydraulic structures ranging from Labyrinth and Chute Spillways to Overtopping Protection and Siphon Systems.

Since 1999 Powers has been recognized by the Georgia Safe Dams Program as an Engineer of Record in the areas of Civil Engineering, Hydrology and Hydraulics. This allows Powers to act as the chief engineer on high hazard dam projects in Georgia. Powers participated in the development of the Georgia Safe Dams Program’s Engineering Guidelines for High Hazard Dams and its 2007 revision. He has significant experience with the design and installation of articulated concrete block mats for dam embankment and spillway armoring. Powers also serves as an expert witness in litigation cases associated with dams and other drainage structures. He is based in the firm’s Atlanta office.
