Florence & Hutcheson to Receive ACEC/NC AWARD

Florence & Hutcheson (F&H) has been notified that the firm’s Bryan Boulevard Relocation project has been selected to receive an award at the 2010 ACEC/NC Engineering Excellence Awards Competition.

According to Warren Lamb, PE, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of F&H/Raleigh, the level of award — Honors, Grand or Grand Conceptor — will not be announced until the awards dinner in November.

“Being recognized by ACEC/NC at any level is a great honor,” said Warren Lamb. “We are very privileged.”

“Bryan Boulevard was relocated to accommodate construction of a new runway and taxiway necessary to secure the commitment from FedEx to build its new 1 million sq. ft. Mid-Atlantic Air Cargo Hub,” said Lamb. “Our team completed design of the project within an aggressive schedule of 300 calendar days from notice to proceed to completion of final contract documents.”

Florence & Hutcheson is the Engineer of Record for the Design and Construction Plans for the $ 52 million project, involving complex interchange design within flight path, bridge designs, and 2.7 miles of new interconnecting roadway.
