Water Resources - Environmental Engineering Intern - Full Time Position

Job Description

Under direction responsible for the design, permitting, procurement and quality control of water and wastewater infrastructure including reservoirs, intakes, diffusers, pumping stations, storage, collection systems, interceptors, water and wastewater treatment including advanced state of the art treatment systems and other infrastructure related to potable water, wastewater and gray water systems.
The duties and responsibilities for the position include:
• Preparation and use of system models for water distribution systems and wastewater collection systems to simulate system operation under existing and predicted conditions
• Preparation of Facility and Master plans for water and wastewater systems
• Preparation and oversight of wastewater collection system assessment plans
• Develops plans, specifications and permit applications for water distribution and wastewater system collection projects
• Preparation of preliminary engineering reports for water and wastewater treatment systems including identification of viable treatment technologies, evaluation of alternatives including effectiveness, sustainability, cost and development of funding strategies
• Prepares drawings, specifications and permit applications for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and lift stations
• Coordinates with project manager to implement measures to successfully meet all project goals and objectives
• Other duties as assigned

Required skills and education:

The position requires the following skills, experience and education:
• Graduation from a university with a ABET accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with preference given to a Master of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in waster and wastewater systems.
• Engineer in Training Certificate or ability to obtain within 12 months
• Strong Oral and written communication skills
• Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS
