Job Description
Provides senior level technical work supporting engineers in functional areas such as roadway and bridge construction inspection, documentation, and contract payments. Work consists of a significant amount of decision making based on past experience, technical expertise, and judgment in evaluating contractor compliance with project requirements. In addition the job will require supervision, job assignments, and evaluations of lower level employees.
Required skills and education:
- Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway and bridge construction.
- Drafting skill and skill in the use of office equipment such as calculators and computers.
- Ability to read, interpret, and explain such things as construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications.
- High school graduate and fifteen years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
- Graduate with an Associate Degree in Construction Technology or related field and ten years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
- Graduate with a Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and five years of progressive transportation technician experience as an employee or consultant for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
